Inspiration:
For my piece I chose to incorporate realism and cubism. I decided to make the human figure in my drawing to be realistic and have a back ground inspired by cubism. The angel in Guardian Angel by Melchior Paul Von Deschwanden is my inspiration for the angel in my piece. Melchior Paul Von Deschwanden was a religious painter and in Guardian Angel it is meant to represent that everyone has a guardian angel looking over them. In his piece he has a realistic angel that is watching over a child, which gave me inspiration for the facial features and the realism aspect of the painting into my piece. The meaning behind his painting gave me inspiration by making my piece have a meaning of the devil and angel being in love and watching over each other. I also took inspiration from Romeo and Juliet by Shakesphere because of the forbidden love story the play represents. For both of my pieces I incorporated a cubism background that is meant to be mountains and water in the angel piece, but mountains and lava for the devil piece. I took inspiration from Georges Braque, Violin and Candlestick piece because it is meant to be looked at from different view points, so the viewer can perceive it as what they see and maybe not as what Braque may have intended it to be. His piece was also made up of shapes that had gradations which also inspired my background. The poses of the man and women in my drawings are ballet poses. I made the people into ballet poses because ballet is a graceful and beautiful dance that takes skill. In the 19th century early classical ballets were created during the romantic movement, which made the story of a forbidden love in my piece have more symbolism. |
